It started innocently enough. I had a mid distance Sat run scheduled and a Sunday long run. On Friday my Tri team sent out a last ditch we need one more person for the Saturday Team Time Trial at the Multisport Expo. Now generally this would not be a big deal however, I am not sure the last time I had been on my tri bike. Still I said sure I can do it.
Saturday morning was an nice 8+ mile run on less sleep then I should have had. About 2 hours later I was climbing onto my bike for a ride over to MIT and the expo. Our heat was at 1:15 and I can say I have never been in an indoor time trial or on a computrainer. It was a 10K. After about 2 or 3 miles of easy spinning on the bike we were off. I gave it everything I had and finished 6th in my heat. When I finished I was finished. My legs were jello, it took 2 hours to stop sweating.
Sunday morning was my running team long run. We would drive to the start in Hopkinton and run over heartbreak hill to stop after about 21 miles. It was a good run 21.4 miles in 2:36:xx but I was struggling a bit at the end my legs really feeling the effort of the weekend. All I could think was the tag line from Urban Epic. don't be ordinary. Be Epic.
